Tips & Tricks Tuesday: Sleeping on purchases before spending money
It can be all too easy to buy something when you decide you want it, but sometimes you find you don’t actually need it. This week’s tip, shared by hugo_homem, suggests sleeping on a purchase for a month—you’ll be reminded of it later and can decide if it’s really something you want to purchase.
Sometimes I buy things that I don’t need, this is a terrible way to spend my money. So I thought of a way of using Remember The Milk to help me. When I decide to buy something, I add as a task, e.g., “Buy this backpack”.
How this is going to help me?
I created a Smart List named “Do I really need this?” with this search:
name:buy AND addedWithin:“1 month of today” AND status:incomplete AND priority:none
After one month waiting to be bought, I should make a decision: buy it or delete it.
