Tips & Tricks Tuesday: Descriptive task names for encouraging motivation
When looking at your Remember The Milk tasks, it may take some thought to remember why you added something. This week’s tip comes from jhonnysabino, who realized that making a descriptive task name—one that answers “why” do the task—would help to complete it. “Clear hearts, full task names, can’t lose” or something. :)
I want to share a simple and effective idea that improved the progress of my actions using RTM.
Practicing GTD, I realized that in the weekly review I sometimes didn’t see the reason for every action. So, at the end of each next action, I’m now adding a “to (…)”. Example: “clean the fan to help the air quality of my room.”
This works because the more clear the action is for me, the easier it is to perform.
I don’t know if this would help someone else, but since it has improved my number of next actions made per day, I wanted to share. I hope it is useful in some way!
Thanks for sharing this tip, jhonnysabino! You’re our Tips & Tricks Tuesday winner this week.
