Today's problems - an explanation
We experienced problems earlier today at Remember The Milk, and while everything is back up and running once again, I just wanted to explain what happened.
The first problem was that a critical piece of hardware failed. By itself, this wouldn’t have been too bad; it chose a spectacularly bad time to fail (a peak time for RTM use), but putting that aside, things should have been okay.
The real problem occurred as a result of the first one: when that piece of hardware decided to fail, it wasn’t content with its own destruction. Uh oh. It decided to destroy several other pieces of important hardware too. It goes without saying that this is bad. Very bad.
Fortunately, we had a dedicated team of hardware ninjas on hand. They were able to perform the delicate operations required to replace the destroyed hardware with shiny new parts. We’ve now given all our hardware a stern talking to, and let it know that such destructive behaviour is unacceptable.
Once again, we apologise to everyone who was inconvenienced during this outage. Thanks for your patience and understanding!
