Bob tries his best to learn Japanese

We've tried, we really have, but we're still no closer to getting Bob fluent in Japanese. While he converses easily in both JavaScript and Scala, his Japanese is beginner level at best.

What we need is someone to help Bob out. We're looking for a Community Manager (Japanese language) to join the Remember The Milk team (this is a part-time, "work from anywhere" position).

Do you love communicating online and practically live on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+? Are you passionate about helping other users get the most out of Remember The Milk? Oh, and do you speak Japanese too? If this sounds like you, and you'd like to join us in our quest to make the world more organized and productive, head on over to the jobs page and get in touch!

(We have other positions available, too.)

Update: This position has now been filled. Thanks to everyone who applied!

Kicking off a productive 2012

Thursday, January 5, 2012 by Emily Boyd

We're already off to a busy New Year here at Remember The Milk — this past week has been our biggest ever, with almost 100,000 new users signing up!

Welcome to everyone who's discovered us from the featured apps section on the Android Market (and a thank you to whoever picked us to be featured! :), as well as those who learned about us in the Wall Street Journal. We hope Remember The Milk will help you to have an organized and productive 2012!

We thought we'd start the year with a quick look back at our favourite Remember The Milk happenings of 2011.

Remember The Milk for iPad

Our first big launch of the year was our iPad app. Development of the app took just over a year, as we rebuilt the app from scratch and threw out four different design concepts in our pursuit of a Remember The Milk experience that felt natural and intuitive on the iPad. We were thrilled to (finally!) launch the app and hope you guys liked the result, too. :)

Add tasks to Remember The Milk with Siri

This was one of our favourite launches. We were super excited to make it possible to ask Siri to remind you (e.g., "Remind me to pick up the milk"), and have that task be magically added to Remember The Milk. Check out Andrew's demo if you missed it!

Remember The Milk for Android 2.0

Otherwise known as The Ginormous Android App Update, this release was big. We overhauled the UI of the Android app and the widgets, snuck in some cool new features and new widgets, and (like our iPhone and iPad apps) the basic app became free for everyone. :)

Real time updating comes to the web app

We couldn't wait to add this feature. Magical real time updating goodness means that you see changes to your tasks as soon as they happen: whether you've updated a task on your iPad, postponed a few tasks on your Android device, or someone you're sharing with decides to tag a bunch of tasks with 'bananas'.

iPhone and iPad apps, now with push syncing

Hot on the heels of real time updating for the web app came pushing syncing for our iOS apps. This means that, with a Pro account, any changes made to your account are automagically pushed out to your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. (The iOS app has to be open to receive the changes in real time, due to OS limitations.)

Voting on ideas for Remember The Milk

Voting icons

With the new voting feature in our Ideas forum, we asked you to help us decide what Bob and the team should develop next. The response has been overwhelming, with 188,591 votes placed for 4,798 different ideas so far (whew!). We're most definitely paying attention to the results… :)

Growing the Remember The Milk team

Bob T. Monkey

We've been lucky to welcome some awesome new team members this past year (hi Alonso, Brendan, and Vassil!). We're now a team of 11 people plus one stuffed monkey, located on five different continents. If you'd like to join us, check out our open positions and get in touch. :)

What's next in 2012?

The team is super busy cooking up cool new stuff and improving Remember The Milk based on your feedback. We can't wait to share what we're working on (we've got some big stuff in store for 2012!).

Follow/like/circle us on Twitter, Facebook, or Google+ to stay in touch with the team, and if you're a Pro user, make sure you sign up to the tester program if you're interested in helping us to test pre-release features.

One last thing… we'd just like to say a massive thank you for supporting us! Thanks for using Remember The Milk, and we wish you an awesome and productive (and possibly awesomely productive?) year.

JavaScript Ninja

Do you dream of a world where the browser reigns supreme, and all applications are a beautifully constructed and obsessively optimized mish-mash of cleanly namespaced JavaScript, crafty HTML and minimalist CSS? Do you wake up screaming "OH NO! NOT ANOTHER [favourite quirky browser here] BUG!" as cross-browser development haunts you in your sleep?

We're looking for a JavaScript Ninja with Google Closure Library experience to join the Remember The Milk team (this is a full-time, "work from anywhere" position). If this sounds like you, and you'd like to join us in our quest to make the world more organized and productive, head on over to the jobs page and get in touch!

(Not a JavaScript Ninja? We have other positions available, too.)

Bob celebrates our 6th birthday with macarons

Wow, it's hard to believe we're six years old today! We want to say a massive thanks to the over 3.1 million people who've entrusted Remember The Milk with their tasks, and of course an extra big thanks to the lovely folks who support us with Pro accounts. :)

What's going on in Remember The Milk land? Well, Bob's been crazy busy cooking up new features and improvements based on all your feedback over in the Ideas forum (you guys sure set him up with a lot of work… from the web app to the mobile apps and beyond, there's a lot of awesome ideas there!).

Keep your eyes peeled for some of Bob and the team's work on a few different projects coming along shortly, and keep on sending us your feedback so Bob knows where to direct all that banana-fueled energy. :)

Bob T. Monkey discovers Donkey Kong's banana hoard

Thursday, December 2, 2010 by Emily Boyd

Banana hoard discovered!    10,000 bananas and one small monkey

When our loveable mascot, Bob T. Monkey, got wind of the fact that Donkey Kong's banana hoard was in Sydney… well, let's just say we had one very excitable monkey on our hands.

Bob insisted that we head over to Circular Quay (pronto!), where we found a two tonne mound consisting of no less than 10,000 bananas. According to Nintendo, the evil Tiki Tak Tribe had stolen the bananas from Donkey Kong Island overnight, and an early commuter found them just outside Customs House this morning. It must have been a complete coincidence that a new Nintendo game was being launched in Australia today…

Bob was disappointed when we told him he couldn't take the entire banana stash home with him (the little guy can barely carry one banana, let alone 10,000!), but we did let him eat as many bananas as he could from the giant mound. Bob says thanks for the noms, Donkey Kong!

Birthday #5

Tuesday, October 12, 2010 by Omar Kilani

Bob celebrates our 5th birthday with cupcakes

It's been an exciting five years for us here at Remember The Milk as we've grown from a small idea shared by two people (and a stuffed monkey!) to a globally distributed little team of passionate people spread across four continents.

Earlier this year, we said thank you to over two million awesome people who've entrusted Remember The Milk with their tasks. Today, over 250,000 new tasks are being added to Remember The Milk every day and we'd like to say a big thank you again to everyone who has helped us on our quest over the past five years: thanks for all your continued support, your invaluable feedback, and simply using Remember The Milk (what can we say? seeing people get organized makes us happy!).

The team is hard at work on some cool stuff and we're thrilled to continue improving Remember The Milk for everyone. :)
