Bob T. Monkey celebrates birthday #8

This weekend we celebrated Remember The Milk turning eight years old. Amazingly, Bob doesn't look like he's aged a bit since October 2005…

We'd like to say a gigantic thank you to everyone who's supported us over the past eight years, with an extra special thanks of course to those who've upgraded to Pro (Remember The Milk couldn't exist without you!).

Quite simply, Bob and the team thank you all for using Remember The Milk! :)

Surprising your significant other on Valentine's Day… with tasks!

Tuesday, February 12, 2013 by Emily Boyd

Yes, tasks can be romantic! Here's how one member of our team (thanks for sharing this, Grant! :) plans to surprise his girlfriend on Valentine's Day:

Bob T. Monkey and a special friend

Are you looking for something romantic to do for your significant other for this upcoming day of love? My girlfriend also has Remember The Milk, and we have a shared list for housework.

Unfortunately, I'll have to work a bit late on Valentine's Day, but I asked myself how I could be romantic even away from home. And the answer I thought of was… Remember The Milk and a miniature chocolate-treasure hunt!

Here is how I will go about doing it tomorrow:

  1. Make sure you and your Valentine's Day partner have a shared list.
  2. The night before Valentine's Day, hide pieces of chocolate, love notes, and diamond rings around the house (Okay, maybe not the rings.. unless you're super rich). Make sure to jot down where they are so you don't forget later!
  3. When you are at work and she is at home, add one task at a time that hints at the location of your hidden treasure. For example, "Check between the couch cushions… complete this task and I will add a new one."
  4. Once he or she completes that task, (i.e., found the chocolate), add another task.
  5. Feel free to make the hints as easy or difficult as you choose!

Enjoy your Valentine's Day, everyone!

Bob's first Halloween

Wednesday, October 31, 2012 by Emily Boyd

Bob scored a lot of noms for one small monkey-cow

Ever since we moved to San Francisco from Sydney, Bob's been looking forward to one particular holiday. Yes it's Halloween, the one day of the year when a small stuffed monkey can don a costume and blend in with the rest of the (mostly human) crowd.

Bob's costume choice was a tad unusual, and we did wonder if being the monkey mascot for an app with a cow logo had finally caused an identity crisis… Nevertheless, Bob seemed to enjoy himself immensely on his first Halloween, and returned from trick-or-treating with quite the collection of noms (he says he wishes he could share them with you all). Happy Halloween!

Birthday #7

Bob T. Monkey celebrates birthday #7

We're seven years old today! It feels like just yesterday we were launching our little app on the Internets, wondering if anyone would actually like and use what we'd created (and we still feel like that everytime we launch something new for Remember The Milk!).

We've been totally overwhelmed by your support since day one. Amazingly, 497 people who signed up in our first month of existence are still using Remember The Milk to this day… now that's to-do list commitment!

We'd like to say a ginormous thank you to everyone who's helped make Remember The Milk what it is over the past seven years. A special mention goes to those who've upgraded to Pro, as it's thanks to you that Remember The Milk exists today (no really… without your support, we would've run out of bananas to feed Bob long ago!).

Most importantly, thank you for using Remember The Milk! We hope we can do our little part to help you be awesomely organized and productive. :)

Goodbye Sydney, G'Day San Francisco

Monday, September 10, 2012 by Emily Boyd

Bob explores his new home of San Francisco

Waaay back in 2004, two Australians (that's us) started working on a little project called Remember The Milk. We were joined by Bob T. Monkey to round out our team, and set out to build the bestest task management app the world had ever seen. Eight years on, we're still going! To our utter amazement, we've somehow managed to sign up over 4.1 million users. Thanks to all your support with Pro accounts (we've never taken funding), we've grown to a distributed team of 10 humans plus one stuffed monkey, all working on our never-ending quest.

Sydney has been Remember The Milk's much-loved home as we've grown over the past eight years. It's an awesome city for startups; we've been honoured to be in the company of folks we admire like Atlassian and Campaign Monitor. As much as we love Sydney though, it's time for a new adventure!

We've exchanged sunny skies for foggy ones, and moved ourselves (myself and co-founder Omar Kilani) as well as Bob T. Monkey to San Francisco. (Incidentally, you have no idea how difficult it is to get a passport for a stuffed monkey.) If you're in San Francisco, be sure to say 'hi' if you see us around in our Remember The Milk hoodies; we look forward to meeting more of our awesome users. :)

For those of you who are curious, aside from the move, we have some big new stuff cooking that we're very excited to share with you soon. The team is quietly (and furiously!) coding away; one might say we've been listening very closely to all your feedback on what you'd like to see from Remember The Milk. ;)

Join the team: Systems Administrator

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 by Emily Boyd

Bob shows off his skills

You might think that with someone as skilled as Bob T. Monkey on the team, we'd have our systems needs covered. Alas, no — we need help! We're looking for a Systems Administrator to join the Remember The Milk team (this is a full-time, "work from anywhere" position).

Do you spend your days thinking of the perfect way to automate deployment and monitoring of systems? Do thoughts of unpackaged files send shivers down your spine? Do you know your puppets from your chefs? If this sounds like you, and you'd like to join us in our quest to make the world more organized and productive, head on over to the jobs page and get in touch!

(We have other positions available, too.)

Join the team: Community Manager (Japanese language)

Friday, February 24, 2012 by Emily Boyd

Bob tries his best to learn Japanese

We've tried, we really have, but we're still no closer to getting Bob fluent in Japanese. While he converses easily in both JavaScript and Scala, his Japanese is beginner level at best.

What we need is someone to help Bob out. We're looking for a Community Manager (Japanese language) to join the Remember The Milk team (this is a part-time, "work from anywhere" position).

Do you love communicating online and practically live on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+? Are you passionate about helping other users get the most out of Remember The Milk? Oh, and do you speak Japanese too? If this sounds like you, and you'd like to join us in our quest to make the world more organized and productive, head on over to the jobs page and get in touch!

(We have other positions available, too.)

Update: This position has now been filled. Thanks to everyone who applied!
