Remember The Milk in Tokyo

Meetup group  Meetup group  Meetup group  Hiroshi and Tani

We were lucky enough to visit Tokyo this past week, where we held our first ever RTM meetup on Sunday. We were thrilled that a whole bunch of you came along (over 30 people were there!). It was also the first time we'd had the whole RTM team together :)

It was awesome to meet so many users in person and hear how you guys are using RTM, as well as hear feedback on which features you'd like to see added and improved in the future :) Thanks so much for coming — all of us (Bob T. Monkey included) had a great time!

We'd especially like to thank RTM Japan blogger Hiroshi Miyazaki; Gen Taguchi of 100shiki, who came along and interviewed us for an ITmedia article (available in Japanese); and Traci and the folks at The Pink Cow for the fantastic venue.

Remember The Milk for Gmail (minor update)

Saturday, January 26, 2008 by Emily Boyd

Some of you may have experienced problems with our Remember The Milk for Gmail Firefox extension this week — it turned out that Google made some significant coding architecture changes to Gmail, and unfortunately our extension wasn't compatible with these changes.

We know just how much many of you were missing this feature (as one forum poster said, "I feel like I'm missing a limb.") and we got Bob to work as quickly as he could to fix this (with minimal stops for banana breaks).

A new version of the extension that works with Gmail's code changes is now available. Firefox should update the extension automatically, but you can also manually tell your browser to update by going to "Tools" then "Add-ons", and clicking on "Find Updates".

Thanks for your patience while we worked on this! As always, if you experience any problems with this or any other RTM feature, please let us know.

Scheduled maintenance (take 2)

Friday, January 11, 2008 by Emily Boyd

A couple of weeks ago, we had scheduled maintenance at RTM while we completed some upgrades and added additional hardware. Unfortunately some of the new hardware hasn't performed quite as well as we would have liked, so we need to schedule a second round of maintenance to switch hardware :(

So… Remember The Milk will be down for scheduled maintenance tomorrow (Saturday), starting at 5pm Sydney time (view in your timezone). The site will be down for up to an hour — we'll post again here once we're done. We're really sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience during this upgrade!

Tip: You might be aware that you can use RTM with Google Gears to manage your tasks while offline. Provided you have it set up prior to our scheduled maintenance, you can use this feature to manage your tasks while RTM is offline too — your changes during this period will be synchronized when RTM returns from maintenance.

Update 6:15PM Sydney time: It's taking a little longer than anticipated, but we should be done shortly.

Update 6:35PM Sydney time: Maintenance complete! Thanks again for your patience.

Shibuya

We're super excited to be visiting Tokyo later this month, and thought that it would be the perfect location to host our first ever RTM meetup. If you're in Tokyo, please join us and other RTM users on January 20 for some drinks at The Pink Cow (naturally!). Come along to discuss the latest RTM features, share and learn tips and tricks for using RTM, and of course ask any questions you have :)

The whole RTM crew will be there — that's me, my RTM co-founder Omar Kilani, and RTM Japan blogger Hiroshi Miyazaki (even Bob T. Monkey is coming). The details are:

Date: Sunday, January 20, 2008
Time: 7pm
Venue: The Pink Cow, 1-3-18 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku (map)
Cost: Free! Please support the venue by ordering great Pink Cow food and drinks at the bar :)
RSVP: Please RSVP here as soon as possible if you're able to attend.

We'd love to see you there! :)
