Birthday #2
Friday, October 12, 2007 by Emily Boyd
Well, it wasn't exactly how we'd planned to start Remember The Milk's second birthday, but you can't dispute that it was an exciting beginning to the day.
It's hard to believe that we're turning two today. Yup, it's been two years since we introduced RTM to the world. A lot has happened in RTM land since our first birthday (for one, we've doubled our number of team mascots).

The team, sans humans, celebrates our second birthday (and yes, that's a vegetarian pizza).
Highlights of recent months have included Google Gears and Twitter integration, and of course the launches of Pro accounts and MilkSync. We're super excited to continue innovating and improving RTM, and are looking forward to bringing you guys some cool new stuff :)
To all our wonderful users: THANK YOU! You guys truly rock. Thank you for all your valuable feedback and support (plus patience when we experience the occasional hiccup :) A special mention to those awesome people who have upgraded to Pro accounts -- we really appreciate your support. Thanks for believing in us! :)
And with that, I'm off to see if Bob and Cow have left us any pizza...
Tips, tricks, and tickets

New forum: Tips & Tricks
By popular demand, we recently created a Tips & Tricks forum for RTM. We kickstarted things with a few posts from the Help and Ideas forums that have featured tips, and the awesome forum community has been filling the new forum with all kinds of neat tips, tricks, and hacks. A small sampling of the cool stuff you can find there:
Upgraded support system
Need to get in touch with the RTM team? We now have a new ticketing system for support, which will enable us to better handle all of your queries (I did try getting Bob to help me out with support, but he only speaks monkey, so he's not much use).
To contact us, just visit the Help by Email page. Sending us a query here will create a numbered help case in our system, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible -- and don't forget that if you have a Pro account, you'll receive priority support (and you're awesome).
Today's problems - an explanation
Thursday, October 11, 2007 by Emily Boyd
We experienced problems earlier today at Remember The Milk, and while everything is back up and running once again, I just wanted to explain what happened.
The first problem was that a critical piece of hardware failed. By itself, this wouldn't have been too bad; it chose a spectacularly bad time to fail (a peak time for RTM use), but putting that aside, things should have been okay.
The real problem occurred as a result of the first one: when that piece of hardware decided to fail, it wasn't content with its own destruction. Uh oh. It decided to destroy several other pieces of important hardware too. It goes without saying that this is bad. Very bad.
Fortunately, we had a dedicated team of hardware ninjas on hand. They were able to perform the delicate operations required to replace the destroyed hardware with shiny new parts. We've now given all our hardware a stern talking to, and let it know that such destructive behaviour is unacceptable.
Once again, we apologise to everyone who was inconvenienced during this outage. Thanks for your patience and understanding!
Back in a bit...
Thursday, October 11, 2007 by Emily Boyd
The site is temporarily unavailable due to some hardware issues, and we're working to get everything back up and running again as quickly as possible. Sorry to everyone for the inconvenience -- we'll post once this is resolved.
Update 4:00AM Sydney time: We're still working to resolve this issue, and I'll post once I have more updates. Thanks for your patience.
Update 5:00AM Sydney time: The hardware that caused the problem is being replaced...
Update 6:15AM Sydney time: We now have shiny new replacement hardware, and should be able to bring things back up shortly.
Update 7:00AM Sydney time: We're back! We'll be monitoring things to make sure that everything is running smoothly. Once again, we apologise for this outage.
Further update: A more detailed explanation is now available here.
